We will sing.

We will sing hallelujah,

Hallelujah, there is love.

And we awoke to the snow glittering on the ground.

The King, He has come to this earth

for all our sharp longing and quiet hopes.

He appeared –

and the soul knew its worth.

The brown-eyed puppies rustled wet noses among the bows,

searching for presents addressed to them, joy under a tree.

A baby sister up bright and early.

The oldest one didn’t sleep much the eve.

A mother and father bundled against winter, percolating coffee

and tossing hay to the donkey, an old horse still waiting at the gate.

A family gathered on the floor that morn,

a faint jingle of bells from the night before.

Love gathered in hearts, held still for the morning star.

God somewhere on the floor, too, a moment cold wind could not rush.

Another memory now, kept in hearts for all the peaks and valleys

and snowflakes caught on tongues.

For this Christmas, we all have the same prayer – for

peace on earth, goodwill toward man.

And we will sing hallelujah,

Hallelujah, there is love.

Amen.
