exhausted love

For some reason, I can just feel all the rough days my dear friends are having.

The beautiful soul overwhelmed by her friend’s concussion.
The captain’s blurred vision and dizziness.
The artist’s frustration with closeness.
The sweetest girl’s confusion over a 180.
The philosopher’s spilled water and sickness.

Rough days.

We all get knocked down and around from time to time. I feel for them, though. I just want to wrap them all up, take away whatever it is that’s dragging them through the mud.

I want God to heal her friend’s brain.
I want the captain to relax and let love in.
I want the artist to get that spark back like she wants.
I want to let the sweet girl to know it’s okay to trust people.
I want to make the philosopher chicken noodle soup.

Mostly, I just want to hold them all close until they feel better.

It’s all life stuff. The trick is to find people to do life with you. It’s okay to need people. It’s okay to need a hug. It’s okay not to have it all together. It’s okay if you need to take a day or a week or a month.

Mostly, it’s okay to not be okay.
Because, this, too, shall pass.

So hold hands, tell them you love them, go for long runs in the autumn morning, drink countless cups of coffee, be more than a little ridiculous, say thank you, be brave, kick ass, dance in the kitchen, stay snuggled up, and believe.

Because, this, too, shall pass.
love.

  1. I love that you direct everything to specific people, but don’t actually name them. This makes the advice you give each of them even more personal. You have a lot of creativity in writing.

  2. The world needs more people like you. People who are affectionate and caring of others can make the world better.
